Our History - Nuestra Historia
The band "Los Elegantes" was formed in Stockton, California and from 1961 to 1967
worked under the representation of Enrique Olivarez, lead vocalist for the band.  From
1967 to 1977 the band worked under the leadership of Rene Orneles, sax player.  In
1977, the band moved its base to Sacramento, California.

At that time, Fred Sanchez and Zachery Espinosa formed a partnership to continue
managing and developing the band.  Under the leadership of Fred Sanchez (drummer
and vocalist) and Zachery Espinosa (trumpet player and music director), Los Elegantes
have come to be recognized as one of the top Latin Music acts regionally and
ingernationally.  In the late 1980's the partners formed a record label, RED PEPPER
SOUND, which released five Los Elegante CDs.  Over the years the group has worked
with many talented songwriters, musicians, vocalists and arrangers all contributing to
"Nuestra Historia".

The band, over the years, has won countless music awards and honors, and in 2001
was inducted into the Sammies Music Hall of Fame, Sacramento's premier annual
regional music awards event.  In 1990, Los Elegantes were invited y the Department of
Defense to tour and entertain the armed forces overseas.  Most recently the band toured
the Moral Welfare and Recreation (MWR) division of the Armed Forces.

We are proud to share with you a sampling of some of the venues we have played, our
travels overseas, the artists and bands we have shared the stage with, and awards and
recognition.
